Hosting A Fundraising Gala? Questions To Ask The Banquet Hall When Making Reservations

Blog

If you are coordinating a fundraising gala and need to find a venue to hold the event, consider a reservation at a banquet hall. To make the most out of your fundraising efforts, you'll need to make several important decisions, most of which will depend on the venue you choose. Here are several decisions you'll need to make when making banquet hall reservations.

What type of entertainment will you provide?

Here are several options that can increase your fundraising efforts so the attendees are provided with more than a meal.

  • auctions
  • contests
  • comedians
  • celebrity speakers
  • impromptu plays
  • raffles
  • musicians
  • casino
  • dancing
  • trivia tournament

When choosing what type of entertainment you'll offer for your gala at a banquet hall, you'll need to consider the amount of space you'll have available to you for the performances after factoring in the number of tables and seating there will be for the attendees.

What type of food and beverages will be catered?

You'll need to provide a menu complete with food and beverages. If you don't already have a caterer or a menu in mind, ask the banquet hall if they provide catering or if they can refer you to a caterer for the gala. When selecting the menu, consider the entertainment and the time of the event. If it's being scheduled to last into the evening, you may want to also provide additional munchies and refreshments towards the end of the evening.

You'll need to decide whether or not to serve alcohol at the gala, which will likely require you to obtain a special occasion liquor license. When making your reservation at the banquet hall, ask them what the process is for you to obtain a liquor license so alcohol can be legally served at the gala.

Is there plenty of parking for the guests and staff?

When you call to make a reservation, ask the banquet hall what the parking situation is like at their venue. Will there be enough parking for all of the guests and the staff? Keep in mind the vehicles that your entertainment will be using as well, particularly entertainment that requires the use of larger vehicles to transport items for the event, such as items being auctioned or raffled. If there isn't enough space in the parking lot for guests, is there a parking area nearby where you can hire a shuttle service to transport guests to and from the venue?

Enjoying More Events With Kids

Having kids is hard, especially when you lead an active lifestyle. When I first had kids, I found myself spending a lot of time at home and wondering if I would ever recover from the social damage from having children when all of my friends were still single. However, I quickly realized that I was holding myself back. I started going to more events and learning how to keep my kids calm and happy during the process. It was really rewarding to see the difference these changes made in my personal life. Before I knew it, I was happier, more focused, and my kids were better adjusted. Check out this blog to learn how to handle going to events with children.
