Three Ideas For A Halloween Wedding

Blog

When you're in the early stages of planning your wedding, one of your top priorities will be to decide which day you want the ceremony to take place. Some couples love the idea of having their ceremony occur on a noteworthy date throughout the year — including on Halloween. While the idea of a Halloween wedding might seem a little unconventional, it gives you the opportunity to get really creative with how you plan the ceremony. Here are some ideas to consider when you have your wedding on Halloween.

Jack-O-Lanterns

It's common to use candles to augment the ambiance at many weddings. When you're getting married on Halloween, you can use a twist on standard candles by having jack-o-lanterns with candles inside of them. Not only will they help to light the venue, but they'll also create the fun and spooky vibe that will help to set your wedding apart from other couples' weddings. You can position the pumpkins in many areas around the venue, including along the aisle that you'll walk at the start of the ceremony and even as a backdrop behind where you'll be standing.

Creative Attire

A Halloween wedding gives you the option of dressing creatively. If you're not a traditional couple, it can be a lot of fun to come up with creative outfits in which to get married. For example, you might want your attire to be a twist on conventional wedding clothing. A bride could wear a black wedding dress, while a groom could wear a suit that is slightly torn to mimic the clothing of a zombie. You can ask your wedding party members to also dress in Halloween-inspired clothing. Depending on who you're inviting as guests, you might even think about encouraging them to dress for the occasion.

Spooky Music

Another thing that can give your Halloween wedding a unique feel is choosing music that suits this October occasion. Instead of having traditional wedding music at various points before, during, and after the ceremony, you can come up with a selection of spooky tunes. Whether you favor classic Halloween songs or you want to find sound effects that have a spooky vibe — perhaps doors creaking, wind blowing, and other similar sounds — this addition will give your ceremony a special feel that your guests won't likely have encountered when they've attended in the past. Consider these and other ideas when you're planning a Halloween wedding.

Enjoying More Events With Kids

Having kids is hard, especially when you lead an active lifestyle. When I first had kids, I found myself spending a lot of time at home and wondering if I would ever recover from the social damage from having children when all of my friends were still single. However, I quickly realized that I was holding myself back. I started going to more events and learning how to keep my kids calm and happy during the process. It was really rewarding to see the difference these changes made in my personal life. Before I knew it, I was happier, more focused, and my kids were better adjusted. Check out this blog to learn how to handle going to events with children.
